Katrien Van Cappellen

Katrien Van Cappellen

Katrien is a creative soul born and raised in an environment steeped in art and culture. Her childhood was a colorful palette of different artistic disciplines, from dance and theater to plastic arts. After her time at Sint-Lukas secondary art school, she felt the urge to expand her horizons and move beyond the confines of the purely artistic world. She studied African Languages and Cultures and deepened Gender and Decolonial studies as a self-taught student. Simultaneous to her artistic and intellectual development, she is responsible for raising her two children, who are now 13 and 15 years old. Even during her years as a mother, she remained driven to evolve within the performing arts, constantly learning and growing. She was trained at Lassaad theater school and then continued to train in various disciplines within the living arts. She has attended various workshops in Corporeal Mime and Martial Arts, Commedia Dell'arte and Clowning. Becoming a mother at a young age deeply shaped her and is an integral part of who she has become. Now she is about to combine her diverse background and create her own artistic works, using her rich experiences as a source of inspiration.
