Platform In De Maak
Steffi van Bokhoven
Steffi van Bokhoven (she/her) creates work from a visual framework, for which dance embodies the driving force. She started her dance education at Dansstudio Arabesque (BE) from a young age, and started pursuing it professionally at Dé! Kunsthumaniora (Wilrijk) in 2008. After four years she decided to further develop her interest for audiovisual arts at the Sint-Lukaskunsthumaniora (Brussels), from which she graduated in 2014. She then continued her journey as a dancer and maker, and collaborated with artists such as Talia Beck and Jenneke Slaets. Since 2021 she also choreographs for the young company Impuls Company. In 2024 she got her BA of Linguistics and Literary Studies: Dutch and Theatre, Film and Literature at the University of Antwerp, where she continued her studies with the MA of Film Studies and Visual Culture. The intersection of audiovisual and performance arts forms a common thread throughout Steffi’s artistic practice, and goes hand in hand with the search for more inclusivity and openness within the performance arts. Projects that relate to that are ‘KIER (working title)’ (2022), in collaboration with Annelien Vannot, and ‘LIVE/LIVE (stadsdansers)’ (2024). Both projects were developed through trajectories of Platform In De Maak.
