The work of a dramaturge does not happen in a vacuum. It is always in relation to various other practices. I am therefore convinced that everyone who participates in the creative process practices dramaturgy. I regard the dramaturge as merely a facilitator of dramaturgies (plural). It is about facilitating a new attentiveness to the emergence and interweaving of meanings during a work-in-progress. In that respect, I am curious to visualize the messy network of the emergence and shifting of meanings through the materiality of things. As Paul Klee once said, to create something you do not reproduce a preconceived idea, but you follow “the forces and flows of material that bring the form of the work into being”
